Logistics for Antarctica: A New Frontier

ACGC participated in a symposium dedicated to the Andromeda Earth Observatory project in Antarctica, organised by International Polar Foundation.

Representing the company, Gilles Vandeputte attended the event and engaged with key stakeholders from the scientific, diplomatic and industrial communities. Among the participants were Olivier Guillon, CEO of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, and Michel-Étienne Tilemans, Special Envoy for the Polar Regions.

The symposium focused on the development of the Andromeda Earth Observatory — a next-generation zero-emission research station designed for full autonomy in Antarctica. The project integrates advanced engineering, sustainable energy systems, and international scientific collaboration in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

A key theme of the discussions was the critical role of logistics in enabling such projects. In remote and isolated regions, logistics becomes a core operational pillar, requiring resilient, low-carbon, and highly reliable supply chains to support scientific missions, infrastructure development, and long-term operations.

The event also provided opportunities for exchange with industry and research professionals, including Carl Schneider, Petr Bartek and Ahmetcan Uzlaşık, fostering discussions on innovation, sustainability and future collaboration.

Participation in this initiative reflects ACGC’s ongoing engagement with projects at the intersection of logistics, sustainability and advanced technological environments.
